Kansai

If you expect cultural heritages in Japan, Kansai is the right place.
Kyoto and Nara were both imperial capital between 8th to 19th century, many temples and monuments are registerd as the world heritage.
Kii peninsula is known for pilgrim path, Kumano Kodo, now it is also registered the would heritage in 2004.
